The Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition will hold its second annual Adopt-a-Beach Clean-Up Saturday in and around Copper Harbor.
A number of local groups will be participating, including the Stewards of Bete Grise Preserve, Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District, Keweenaw ATV Club, Copper Harbor Trails Club, Keweenaw Overland Adventure Retreat, and more.
Individual volunteers who would like to take part should report between 9 and 10 a.m. to Donny Kilpela Memorial Park. Directions on where to clean, maps and trash inventory forms will be provided. KORC will dispose of all trash collected.
Organizers recommend that participants bring their own gloves, and a canteen or water bottle. Water will be available at the park.
A community cookout in the park will follow, and will include a raffle with prizes donated by area clubs and businesses. Outdoor refreshments and food for volunteers will be provided by The Mariner North.
Last year’s inaugural effort resulted in 500 pounds of trash being removed from local beaches.
