The first of the four finalists to become the next president of Northern Michigan University will be introduced to the community this evening.
Debra S. Larson has been provost and vice president of academic affairs at California State University, Chico, for the past five years. Before that, she served six years as dean of the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University.
Larson grew up in Ishpeming, and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan Tech, and her PhD in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University. You can read her full biography here.
Tonight’s reception will take place between 5:30 and 7 at the Northern Center on the NMU campus. The public is invited, and opportunities for feedback will be provided.
The three remaining candidates will be introduced at similar receptions next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The candidates who will attend each session will be revealed 24 hours in advance.
The full NMU Board of Trustees will conduct formal interviews the week of September 26.
