Baraga County to Consider First Responder Funding

Baraga County Commissioners will consider a request from the county’s first responders for $450,000 in American Rescue Plan Act money tonight.

The proposal would award $100,000 each to Bay Ambulance, and the L’Anse and Baraga Fire Departments. Each of the county’s remaining six fire departments would receive $25,000. All of the entities have signed on.

The money would be used mostly for protective gear, communications equipment and training.

The county board will meet this evening at 5 at the courthouse.
