Obituary: Jane L. Kiiskila

Jane L. Kiiskila, 82, a resident of Calumet, and former 60-year resident of Kiiskila Rd. on Quincy Hill passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the UP Health Systems – Marquette Hospital following a short illness.

She was born on May 21, 1940, in Lake Linden, MI, the daughter of the late Douglas and Helen (Hebert) Normand. Jane was raised on the family farm in Lake Linden and was a graduate of the Lake Linden High School with the class of 1958.

On June 21, 1958, she was united in marriage to George A. Kiiskila Sr. The couple moved to the Kiiskila Family farm on Lake Annie Rd. The couple moved to the Kiiskila family farm on Lake Annie Rd. (Kiiskila Rd.) they then moved to Marquette and Utica for a short time before returning to their home on the family farm. George preceded Jane in death on May 30, 2008. In 2021, Jane moved to make her home in Oneco Location.

Mrs. Kiiskila had worked in the Kitchen at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility and as a custodian for Finlandia University(Suomi College) before becoming a custodian for Michigan Technological University retiring after 16 years of service to the university.

Mrs. Kiiskila had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock and more recently had attended Hope Fellowship Church in Houghton. Jane enjoyed raising her family, cooking and baking bread, watching westerns and 1950’s movies, playing golf, watching sports and spending time with friends and family. Jane was also known for wearing a lot of “Pink”

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband George Sr., Her grandsons: Mark Heidfeld and Scott Lograsso, her twin sister Joan Normand(at 4 years) , her brothers: Paul Normand and Reuben Normand, her sisters-in-law: Shelby Normand and Mary Normand Nancy Kiiskila, Eileen Kiiksila, and her brothers-in-law: Joseph Mahr, Norman Forsman, John and Carl Kiiskila, Jim Hippula.

Her grandchildren: Nicole Lograsso, Adam(JoMarie), Daniel, & Ben Heidfeld, Christina (Eric) Jarvi, Samuel, & Sarah Kiiskila, Nolan, Alex, McKenna, Kiiskila and Lindsey (Charles) VanEerden

Her great-grandchildren: Adara, Macaiah and William Jarvi, Max Lograsso

Her brothers and sisters:

Graveside services for Jane will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock, MI, with Pastor Jon Kangas to officiate.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 4 to 7:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of services at the cemetery.
