Obituary: Helen M. Sirvio

Helen M. Sirvio, 90, a former Dollar Bay and Bluffs Senior Living resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Green Tree in Hubbell.

She was born on April 11, 1932, in Dodgeville, the daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Salmi) Mattson. On August 18, 1956, she was united in marriage to Arvo “Butler” Sirvio. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2009.

Helen was employed at the Houghton County Sanitorium and later the Houghton County Medical Care as a nurse’s aide. Helen later became a full-time caretaker for her husband for 23 years. She was a member of the former First Lutheran Church in Dollar Bay. She enjoyed listening to country music, baking pasties, and most of all spending time with her family in which she was very proud of.

Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers; Ronald, Bob and Roy Mattson, 2 sisters; Delores Nelson and Rose Krapu and a son in law; Jerry Harma.

Helen is survived by her children:
Sherrill (Mark) Stout of Plymouth, MN
Melissa “Missy” Harma of Dollar Bay
Kevin Sirvio of Dollar Bay
Grandchildren: Ethan (Lauren) Stout, Dylan Harma, and Dane Sirvio
Her siblings: Barbara Forsman, Sharon (Roger) Harry, Shirley (Walter) Harry, Wilbert (Patty Ann) Mattson, sister in laws Carolyn (Roy) Mattson and Barbara (Bob) Mattson
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

A graveside service for Helen will be held at 10am on Friday, June 22, 2022, in section 16 of the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate.
