Aura Jamboree Returns

A busy weekend in the Copper Country begins this afternoon, with the return of the full Aura Jamboree.

After a COVID-19 cancellation two years ago, and a downsized event last year, organizer Ed Kilpela is happy to resume the traditional schedule…

Oh, without a doubt. It’s really nice. The participants are really involved and dedicated to the program. It’s awesome.

Performances on the indoor stage at the Aura Community Hall will begin at 5:00 this afternoon. Tonight’s dance will feature Rolling Thunder and Chad Borgen and the Collective.

Laulu Aika performs at Thursday night’s Aura Jamboree preview concert at the L’Anse Waterfront Bandshell.

The performance schedule resumes tomorrow morning at 10:00, and runs through the day. Bette Premo of Whitewater will lead a traditional dance workshop at 1, and the tradition of adding someone to the Jamboree’s Wall of Fame will continue at 4. Tomorrow night’s dance will be very traditional, with the PasiCats and Laulu Aika.

Adult admission is $15. Proceeds support the historic Aura Hall.
