In the Copper Country Slow Pitch Softball action last evening…
• Amy J’s recorded a 1-0 victory over Sayen’s Auto/Coca Cola, then defeated Downtowner Two 23-17.
• McGann’s/Northern Auto edged Bucko’s/Labatts 7-6 in the first game of their doubleheader, then recorded a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.

Fast Pitch Softball

In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play last night…
• JB’s Sales and Service blasted Northern Michigan Land Brokers 17-1. For JB’s, Clea Ollanketo had a home run and a single, Gwen Markham had a home run and a double, Grace Brunet had a triple and a single, and Stella Soumis with a double and two singles.
• Crush/Diamond House/Loading Zone downed Superior Service 9-2. Emily Jokela got the win, with help from Olivia Shank and Kara Kinnunen. For Crush, Sarah Audette had a double and inside-the-park home run. Kierstyn Codere had a single and a double, and Laura Lyons had a home run. Raili Therrian homered for Superior Service.
• Tervo Agency held off Superior National Bank 12-10. Olivia Wakeham struck out 10, and earned the win in relief of Mel Baker.

MLB

Eric Haase’s two-run homer powered the Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the Giants yesterday. Rony García gave up a solo home run in the first inning, then pitched scoreless ball through the fifth to earn the win. Javier Báez and Victor Reyes each had two hits.

The Tigers have today off, and host the Royals tomorrow night. Coverage will begin at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers defeated the Rays 5-3 yesterday. Rowdy Tellez hit two home runs, and Luis Urías and Jace Peterson each knocked one out.

The Brewers visit the Pirates this evening. Adrian Houser will start against J.T. Brubaker.
