NHL

The Avalanche won game one of the Stanley Cup championship series last night, edging the Lightning 4-3 in overtime. Andre Burakovsky scored the game winner 83 seconds into the extra period. Game two will be played Saturday in Colorado.

NBA

The NBA championship continues tonight, as the Celtics host the Warriors. Golden State leads the series 3-2.

MLB

The Tigers suffered a humiliating 13-0 defeat to the White Sox yesterday. Chicago rapped out 22 hits, including three home runs. Detroit got only four singles. After churning through four pitchers in the first six innings, the Tigers sent Harold Castro, Kody Clemens and Tucker Barnhardt to the mound in the seventh, eighth and ninth.

The team held a closed-door clubhouse meeting after the game.

The Tigers host the Rangers tonight. Beau Brieske will pitch against Martín Pérez. Coverage will begin at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers routed the Mets 10-2 last night. Corbin Burnes gave up two runs over six innings. The Crew sent 16 batters to the plate, and scored seven runs in the fifth inning – all with two out.

The Brewers visit the Mets again tonight. Aaron Ashby will start against Tylor Megill.

Milwaukee has placed closer Josh Hader on the paternity list. Chi Chi Gonzalez has been activated to fill in. The Brewers claimed Gonzalez off waivers Tuesday, after he was designated for assignment by the Twins.

Running

The Thatcher Markham Memorial 5k Run and Walk will take place tomorrow, as the leadoff to the Bridgefest Parade. Advance packet pickup and late registration will be held tonight between 5:00 and 8:00 at the former Keweenaw Buick/GMC building on Quincy Street in Hancock. The final packet pick-up and late registration session will be held before the race tomorrow, between 4:00 and 6:00.
