Local Students Honored for Volunteerism

A couple of local students have been honored by Governor Gretchen Whitmer for their volunteer work.

Timothy Bendick from Forest Park High School received a Youth Changemaker Award, for documenting more than 400 hours of community service.

Ani Schneiderhan from Calumet High School received a Community Impact Award for more than 50 hours of community service in the most recent school year.

Across the state, 424 students were highlighted. They were among more than 1,500 who tracked their volunteer time online through the Michigan Governor Youth Award program.
