Calumet’s Community Gardens Need Gardeners

Calumet’s Community Gardens is looking for gardeners for the 2022 growing season. Last year, Main Street Calumet and the village partnered together to establish a community gardens. With the help of Youth Work, local volunteers and the Upper Michigan Water Company, 16 4×8 garden beds were established in the 400 block of 5th Street.

The purpose of the gardens is to provide a space for resident to come together and plant food, host nutrition and learning events, and socialize in Calumet. The Calumet Community Gardens are now accepting application for garden beds. A 4×8 bed will cost 20 dollars for the season, and members of the community gardens are asked to commit 4 hours of service to the gardens annually. Each garden bed includes access to water and the shared shed.
