Retraction; Keweenaw County Moving Forward with Materials Management, Purchasing New Tractor

Retraction: Keweenaw County has chosen to repair the tractor owned by the county. The tractor repair will cost 6,600 dollars. The county is not purchasing a tractor as reported yesterday by Keweenaw Report. The county did discuss the possability of purchasing a tractor, but chose to go with repair when the decision was made at Wednesday’s Commission meeting.

More options for recycling may come soon for residents in Keweenaw County. Last night the board of commissioners supported motion to move forward on a material management grant. Materials Management County Engagement grants are currently being organized by the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region. As they continue to work with other western U.P. counties.

Also last the county decided to purchase a new tractor. The current one owned by the county has a number of repair issues. The quote the Keweenaw County received for the repairs was 6,600 dollars, before an additional seal leak was found. And the county has had consistent maintenance problems since they purchased the tractor from the mountain lodge. A new tractor will cost the Keweenaw County close to 50,000 dollars.
