Hancock Promise Deadline Extended

The deadline for Hancock High School seniors to apply to take advantage of Finlandia University’s Hancock Promise has been extended.

University officials will accept applications until May 1st. The change coincides with an extension of Michigan’s priority deadline for filing the FAFSA form, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA form must be filed to qualify for most student aid, including the Hancock Promise.

The Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of no more than $2,500 per school year. Around 22 students per year have taken advantage of the opportunity since the program began in 2009.

While it only applies to Hancock High School graduates, Finlandia officials note that there are other forms of financial assistance available to graduates of other area high schools.
