Jean Barberis, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2022, at UP Health Systems Portage.
She was born on August 29, 1931, in Calumet MI. She moved to White Pigeon and Constantine MI, in 1951. Jean graduated in 1949 from Calumet High School and worked at the Bon Ton and Waarla Drug Store. While downstate, she worked for Three Rivers Rubber as a machine operator and greaser and was a member of the local union until the plant closed and the company moved south. Jean also worked as a ground’s keeper at Klinger Lake, in Sturgis MI, until she retired. She moved back to the Copper Country in 2014 and resided in Calumet Housing.
Jean is preceded in death by her father and mother Angelo and Mary Barberis, and her brother and his wife Ray and Bena Rilei.
She is survived by two nephews and their wives. Ray and Jean Rilei, and Peter and Johanna Rilei and their children. Also, several cousins.
