In many home gardens one may find a few roses popping out of the soil. The genus rosa has a long and storied history. Showing up throughout as a symbol of love, beauty, war and peace. There are nearly 150 different species of roses. Today, rose gardens are celebrated and many competitions are held in various communities. Mellissa Boerman, is a Consulting Rosarian and has been growing flower buds for over 25 years. She recently moved back to the area, bringing with her, her roses from Tennessee. She says that the Upper Peninsula is actually a great place to grow roses.
The goal for any Consulting Rosarian is to spread information to other gardeners, either experienced or for those just starting.
