Poll Says Residents Want Mandatory Paid Sick Leave

A new poll shows most Michigan residents would support legislation requiring businesses to provide paid sick leave.

The poll, conducted by Lansing-based Denno Research for Mothering Justice and the Economic Justice Alliance of Michigan, showed 86% of voters would support employees earning paid leave for their own or a family member’s illness.

Some 75% would support legislation setting standards for sick leave.

Danielle Atkinson, director of Mothering Justice, says it’s time for legislators to listen to the voices of residents and get this type of law on the books.
