Kreft To Stand Trial For Embezzlment

The Escanaba woman who allegedly stole more than $135,000 from a resident at Marquette’s Jacobetti Home For Veterans will stand trial.

37-year-old Frances Kreft has been bound over to Delta County Circuit Court on charges of embezzling from a vulnerable adult. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Escanaba Public safety investigators say that Kreft was “in a position of trust” and had access to the victim’s money over the course of four years.

The $135,439 was allegedly stolen between January 8, 2010 and February 20, 2014.

Kreft is scheduled for a plea in circuit court on March 6.
