High School

In high school boys basketball tonight…
• Houghton tips off at Hancock. Coverage will begin around 7:00 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.
• Calumet visits Lake Linden-Hubbell.
• Baraga plays at Dollar Bay-Tamarack City.

On the girls schedule tonight…
• The Houghton game against West Iron County scheduled for tonight has been postponed until tomorrow night.
• Ewen-Trout Creek visits Watersmeet.
• The Calumet home game against Ishpeming has been postponed to December 28th.

In high school swimming, Houghton welcomes Ishpeming.

Youth Hockey

The first Keweenaw Frozen Cup youth hockey tournament opens tomorrow afternoon. The field includes five Squirt teams, four PeeWee squads, and six Bantam teams. Games will be played through the weekend at Meadowbrook Arena in L’Anse, and the Baraga Rink in Baraga. Spectators are welcome, and there is no admission charge. Check the schedule here.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team blew past Finlandia University 122-52 last night. Seven Huskies scored in double figures, led by Trent Bell with 17 points. Ilrick Higgins-Moise came off the bench to lead the Lions with 14. The Huskies out-rebounded the Lions 54-20.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons visit the Indiana Pacers tonight.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings visit the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. That contest is still on, despite the ‘Canes having at least six players sidelined by COVID-19 issues. The Wings will also be short-handed, with place Robby Fabbri and Michael Rasmussen in COVID-19 protocol. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Red Wings coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game, the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Los Angeles Chargers. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator and interim head coach Darrell Bevell is an interim head coach once again. Bevell finished the 2020 season for Detroit, after Matt Patricia was fired. He began this season as offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was promoted yesterday after head coach Urban Meyer was terminated.
