Hancock City Council Meeting Recap

Hancock’s city water and sewer code is now up to date.

The city council passed an ordinance at Wednesday’s regular monthly meeting to amend the city code to match that of the state.

At issue was the amount of time required for inspecting cross connections with the public water supply system to prevent contamination from water of questionable quality, wastes or other contaminants.

The inspection period was reduced from five years to three.  The amendment also changes various code and section numbers to match those of the state.

In other business, the council discussed the return of the St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17th and congratulated DPW member Joe Pizzi’s certification of a S-2 distribution license.

The council also received an update on the project to renovate 119 Quincy Street which will be home to four apartments, a KC Bonkers Toy store and a coffee shop–possibly opening in June.

The council also voted to authorize a grant application to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for 200 Hancock Street, the Baroni’s location, for façade improvements and other work.
