Ahmeek Fire Department receives $30,000 donation

An anonymous donor has gifted Ahmeek Fire and Rescue $30,000, which will allow them to afford a new rescue truck, something the department has needed for years. Michael Defina writes on Facebook that the organization could still use about $20,000 to purchase add-ons and extra equipment that will give the truck full functionality.

Ahmeek is having its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday, one of only two it holds for the entire year. It will be carry out only and meals will be delivered to cars curbside at the Ahmeek Village Hall between noon and 6:00. Each meal costs $10.

Defina explains, “Because we receive no tax millage, the success of these events is extremely important to us, as they fund our operating expenses for an entire year. Additionally, we are still in need of funding to purchase and equip our new rescue truck.”
