Michigan Works! and the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up for a second modified job fair on November 2nd. The two organizations held the first in late September and 22 job seekers took part.
The application drive format allows participants to survey the list of jobs available and apply for the ones they think will be the best fit. Employers are not on site for the event, and will have paperwork forwarded to them by Michigan Works! once the drive is over. Chamber President Debbie Stouffer says the procedures are not in place because of COVID-19 or other safety concerns.
Like other parts of the region and state, there are many employers desperate for help. Twenty-eight companies advertised over 120 openings at the last event. It will occur at the Chamber’s location in L’Anse at 1 Main Street.
