Calumet Elementary School getting new windows

The original portion of the Calumet Elementary School is about to get an exterior upgrade. At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, the district voted to approve the replacement of the double hung windows in the wing at a total cost of $112,898.

Superintendent Chris Davidson says the need was identified last year after previous efforts to resolve insulation issues had worked on some panes, but not others. The money comes from what is leftover following a 2019 bond issuance. The work it was initially earmarked for came in under budget.

Davidson says the useful life of the new windows is hard to calculate as it is determined by many factors.
