Another M-26 culvert set to be replaced

The Michigan Department of Transportation continues to be busy making repairs that stem from damage due to the Father’s Day Flood, particularly on M-26 between Hancock and Hubbell. As one culvert replacement is nearing completion, another job starts Monday, August 2nd.

Already, steel culvert segments can be seen parked near the old Quincy Stamp Mill Number One. They’ll be installed where M-26 crosses over the Quincy Creek. The work will result in a full closure of M-26, with US-41 serving as the alternate route. That is expected to remain in place until August 17th. Even after the road reopens, temporary traffic signals or flag control may be used at the site.

Looking at the department’s Mi Drive Map, the tentative end dates for the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and Townsend Drive projects are August 27th, and September 24th respectively. Traffic on US-41 north is now being rerouted onto Cliff Drive through Michigan Tech’s campus.
