Two children arrested for Harter’s Party Store break-ins

A 17-year-old who will face charges as an adult and a juvenile were arrested related to two break-ins this month at Harter’s Party Store. The Calumet business had several items taken from it during the incidents, including five firearms.

Early Monday, deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department were joined by a Michigan State Police – Calumet Post trooper to execute arrest warrants on the boys. The apprehensions led to the location of three of the missing guns at a wooded location in Houghton.

The child was turned over to his parents but the 17-year-old is lodged at the Houghton County Jail. They face several charges including Breaking and Entering with Intent, five counts of Possession of Stolen Firearms, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Felonious Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer.

The news release says more arrests are expected and the investigation is ongoing.
