A snowbile rider is in the hospital this morning after being involved in an accident with a car near South Range. Houghton County Sheriff Deputies say the accident happened yesterday afternoon just after 4 o’clock. The snowmobiler, a 75-year-old man from North Dakota, was traveling east on trail 3 when he failed to yield at an intersection with M-26. He struck the side of a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man from South Range. The snowmobile driver was tossed from the sled, sustaining injuries. He was transported to U.P. Health System Portage. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.
