The name of the statewide hiking and biking trail that will stretch from Belle Isle Park in Detroit all the way to Ironwood finally has a name. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources received over 9,000 suggestions and the name that was selected was Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail. DNR Director Keith Creigh says that while Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail is a work in progress, significant portions of the trail already exist throughout both peninsulas and are open right now for public enjoyment and exploration.
