Heikenpaiva Festivites Begin

Althought the official Heikenpaiva Day is next Saturday, special events have been going on this week and will continue next week as well. Today, the Kivajat Finnish Dancers are sponsoring a fund-raiser entitled “Dreaming of Finland; Old-Time Copper Country Dance,” with music by Oren Tikkanen and the Thimbleberry Band. David Maki from the Finnish Theme Committee says even people who don’t know how to dance want to participate in events like these.

Admission is $5.00 per person. Kids ages 13 and under get in free. For a full schedule of the Heikenpaiva festivities, click here.
