COVID-19 update – Numbers remain relatively low

Monday’s Western Upper Peninsula Health Department update continued to show relatively low COVID-19 activity in the area. Houghton County had registered an increase in probable cases the past two reports and those played a factor in a modest jump in confirmed cases this time around. Houghton had 25 new cases, while Baraga and Keweenaw Counties adjusted out to zero. Net cases continue to decline sharply thanks to 55 recoveries.

A vaccine page has been added to the website. In an update to a story from last week, the Pfizer vaccine is available in limited quantities at Aspirus Keweenaw and Baraga County Memorial Hospital for those making plans for their second dose. The Moderna vaccine can be found at other providers including UP Health and Upper Great Lakes Family Health Centers.

TOTAL: 38 more positives, 4 more probable positives and 87 more recoveries
BARAGA COUNTY: 4 more positives, 1 less probable and 1 recovery
GOGEBIC COUNTY: 11 more positives and 21 more recoveries
HOUGHTON COUNTY: 25 more positives, 5 more probable positives and 49 more recoveries
KEWEENAW COUNTY: 4 less positives and 5 more recoveries
ONTONAGON COUNTY: 2 more positives and 11 more recoveries
