Wayne Arno Nygord, age 68 of Aura, MI passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 4, 1952 in Hancock, MI son of William and Pearl (Sjoblom) Nygord. Wayne married the former Faye Pesola on November 28, 1970. Wayne was a foreman for a cement company in Fort Collins, CO and when they moved back to the area he worked for another cement company out of Hancock. He then worked at Celotex and worked for many years as a logger/sawyer for LeClaire Logging in L’Anse before becoming disabled.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.
Surviving are his wife Faye Nygord of Aura; children, Theresa (Nakia) Nygord of L’Anse, Wallace (Tiffany) Nygord of Aura, Wade (Jerri) Nygord of Aura; grandchildren, Zachary, Rebecca, Weston, Mark and Wyatt; sisters Pearl Wise, Robin (Don) Carlisle; sister-in-law Jean (Tom) Heider; brother-in-law Bruce (Meg) Pesola; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his father William Nygord; mother Pearl (Nygord) Toyras; stepfather Helmer Toyras; brother William Nygord Jr; and son Wayne Nygord Jr.
The family will have private graveside services in the Aura Cemetery in the spring.
