Illinois Woman Injured in Keweenaw County Snowmobile Crash

An Illinois woman was hurt in a snowmobile crash in Keweenaw County Wednesday.

Officials from the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s department tell us the 22-year-old was northbound on Trail Three near Silver Mine Road when she missed a turn, left the trail, and hit several trees.

She was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw, and then transferred to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment of her injuries. Her name has not been released.

Speed was determined to have been a factor in the crash. An investigation continues.

This Is the third personal injury snowmobile crash in the past week in Keweenaw County. Sheriff Curt Pennala is encouraging riders to slow down, and be cautious. He reports that heavy traffic and lack of snow have resulted in some rough trail conditions.
