Santa Plans Saturday Appearances

Santa will be making his final visits to the Copper Country Saturday.

He will visit the Baraga Fire Hall for a drive-through Christmas party between 11:00 and 1:00. Kids are invited to wave at Santa, drop off letters to him, and register to win gifts.

The L’Anse Christmas drive-through event runs from noon until 2:00 at Meadowbrook Arena. Children will get a bag of candy, and can put their gift lists into the Wish Box for Santa to read later.

Mrs. Claus will join Santa at the Hubbell Fire Department between 1:00 and 3:00. They’ll appear at the top of the building steps for a no-contact visit. Kids are invited to drop off letters, and enjoy treats.

Calumet and Laurium will hold a Santa Parade Saturday afternoon. Local businesses, organizations, families, musicians and bands are invited to enter a decorated float, snowmobile, tractor or other mobile unit in the parade. Holiday characters are welcome. Because of the length of the route, no walking entries will be included.

The parade will begin at 4:00 at the intersection of Hecla Street and Lake Linden Avenue in Laurium. The parade will then proceed north through town, then follow Third Street across US-41, and make its way to Fifth Street in Calumet. It will end at the intersection of Fifth and Elm.

Those who would like to participate should line up at 3:00 along Kearsarge Street at the Lake Linden Avenue intersection.
