NMU Holds Off FSU In Hockey Season-Opener

NMU

The Northern Michigan University hockey team opened up a big early lead, then held off Ferris State University 5-4 last night. After losing several series because of positive COVID-19 tests, the Wildcats celebrated their debut by building a 4-0 advantage early in the second period. The Bulldogs’ comeback began with two goals midway through the second frame. Joseph Nardi’s power play goal for Northern late in the second proved to be the game-winner. Ferris added two third period tallies to make it close.

NMU and Michigan Tech will play a home-and-home series this weekend, with tomorrow night’s game in Houghton, and Saturday’s contest in Marquette.
