The pilot of a single engine Cessna is safe this morning after his plane crashed at Sawyer International Airport yesterday afternoon. A single pilot occupied the plane at the time of the crash. The plane veered off the runway when taking off from the tarmac. The pilot escaped from the plane without injury, but the plane was substantially damaged. The Cessna has since been removed, and operations manager Steve Schenden says the airport is now open again as usual.
