Great Lakes Caution Urged

With the blustery weather we’ve had recently, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is urging caution on and near Great Lakes waters.

Lake levels continue to be unusually high. Heavy waves can crash over piers and breakwaters that are normally high and dry. Rocks and structures that are normally visible may be hidden. Rip rap and larger armor stones along the shoreline can be slippery, and cause falls for those walking on and around them. Rip currents increase as water circulation changes. And, of course, the increasingly cold water can disable someone who falls in very quickly.

Please stay safe on and near the lakes.
