Yet another attempt by Republicans to slow down or stop Michigan’s electoral process has been thrown out of court.
On Friday, Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny rejected a request by Republicans to halt the certification of election results in Detroit and Wayne County, and order an independent accounting.
In his ruling, Kenny wrote that affidavits alleging fraud at the ballot counting facility at the TCF Center were contradicted by a report submitted by election consultant Christopher Thomas.
Thomas was Michigan’s director of elections for 40 years, under Republican and Democratic administrations. He was appointed as a senior advisor to Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey for the November vote.
State law requires counties to certify their vote totals by tomorrow. The State Board of Canvassers is scheduled to meet a week from today to certify the statewide result.
