– At the Marquette Classic, Hancock faces Ann Arbor-Pioneer this evening at 6:00, and Marquette meets Sault Ste. Marie at 8:00. Tomorrow, the Bulldogs face Sault Ste. Marie at 11:00, and Marquette takes on Ann Arbor Pioneer at 1:00.
– At the Jeffers New Year Tournament at MacInnes Arena, Escanaba faces Cheboygan tonight at 6:00, and Jeffers takes on Pinckney at 8:00. Tomorrow, the consolation match will take place at 1:00, and the championship game at 3:00.
– Calumet entertains Kingsford tomorrow night. Our pregame coverage begins around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
In girls’ basketball, Houghton plays at Northland Pines tonight.
Michigan Tech Teams Traveling
Both Michigan Tech basketball teams play at Ohio Dominican tonight. Both Huskies teams play at Tiffin on Sunday.
The fifth-ranked Michigan Tech hockey team skates at Wisconsin tonight and tomorrow night.
Northern Michigan
Both Northern Michigan University basketball teams play at Tiffin tonight, and at Ohio Dominican on Sunday.
The NMU hockey team hosts third-ranked Minnesota State tonight and tomorrow night.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s basketball team will entertain Mount Mary University tomorrow afternoon. Tip-off is at 1:00 at the Paavo Nurmi Center.
Pioneers Face Wolverines
The Portage Lake Pioneers and Calumet Wolverines will play a home-and-home series this weekend. Tonight’s game begins at 7:30 at the Colosseum. Tomorrow’s contest starts at 7:30 at Dee Stadium.
NHL – Red Wings Head West
The Red Wings will open a west coast trip at Vancouver tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 10:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
NBA – Pistons Prepare for Knicks
The Pistons visit the Knicks tonight. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
NFL Playoffs
Defensive tackle Nick Fairley practiced with the Detroit Lions yesterday for the first time since he injured his knee on October 26th. His participation was limited, and team officials say it remains very unlikely that he will be able to play in Sunday’s playoff game against the Cowboys. He might be ready for the team’s second playoff game… if they get one. Hear all of this weekend’s NFL playoff games on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
College Football Championship Match Set
Ohio State will face Oregon in the College Football Bowl Division Championship Game. The Buckeyes overcame an early 15-point deficit, and upended top-ranked Alabama 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl last night. The Ducks dismantled Florida State 59-20 in the Rose Bowl.
At the Cotton Bowl yesterday, Michigan State scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and edged Baylor 42-41.
