Regional COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise

COVID-19 cases in our region continue to rise.

The latest report from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department shows 97 new confirmed diagnoses and 21 more probable cases since the last summary was issued late Thursday. 

Gogebic County leads the surge, with 46 confirmed positives and three deaths. Houghton County’s upward trend continues, with 30 new confirmed positives. Ontonagon County has 13 new confirmed positives, Baraga County has seven, and Keweenaw County has one. 130 confirmed recoveries were reported across the region.

Since the pandemic began, 1,223 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the region. 18 of our neighbors have died.

The combined Sunday-Monday statewide report includes 3,881 new cases – 25 percent higher than last week’s Sunday-Monday report, and more than double that of two weeks ago.
