Hospital Leaders Plead for COVID Compliance

Michigan’s hospital administrators are pleading for state residents to continue to take precautions against the coronavirus. The Michigan Health and Hospital Association issued a statement yesterday, on behalf of Chief Medical Officers and Chief Clinical Officers of Michigan Healthcare Systems and Hospitals.

The organization notes that COVID-19-related hospitalizations have increased by 80 percent in recent weeks. That’s putting a strain on the health care system, and on the health care workers who run it. The statement calls for Michigan citizens to continue to wear masks, stay at least six feet apart, avoid crowds, and wash hands frequently, to avoid another catastrophic surge in hospital admissions, such as the one experienced in Southeast Michigan last spring.

The Michigan Health and Hospital Association represents 110 of Michigan’s 137 hospitals. Statement signatories include UP Health System Market President Gar Atchison and Baraga County Memorial Hospital Medical Director Dr. Todd Ingram.
