Michigan’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, along with the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, have launched the Ambassador Program, aimed at helping businesses such as gyms, bowling alleys, roller and ice rinks and swimming pools reopen, following updated workplace safety guidelines.
The new guidelines are in step with executive orders 2020-175 and 2020-153 to prevent COVID-19 from further spreading to the public and employees.
These businesses, previously left out when Governor Whitmer eased restrictions, are now allowed to reopen at some capacity across the state.
The new executive order requires fitness centers and gyms, to frequently disinfect equipment.
Sean Egan, COVID-19Workplace Safety Director said “Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible for businesses and ensure they have the tools and resources necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
The Ambassador Program also allows health and safety experts to go into businesses to offer education and support.
