The Detroit Tigers lost to the Minnesota Twins 6-2 yesterday. Michael Fulmer continued to struggle in his return from Tommy John surgery. He threw two shutout innings, but left as Minnesota broke through with four runs in the third. Detroit batters managed only three hits, with one run coming on a Willi Castro single in the fourth, and the other on a Jorge Bonifacio force out in the seventh.
The Tigers host the Milwaukee Brewers this evening. Spencer Turnbull will pitch against Adrian Houser. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers had yesterday off.
NHL
The NHL Eastern Conference championship series opened last night, as the Lightning pounded the Islanders 8-2. Game two will be played tomorrow.
The Western conference final will continue tonight, with the Stars leading the Golden Knights 1-0.
NBA
In the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals last night, the Celtics shut down the Raptors 111-89. Boston leads that series 3-2. The Heat face the Bucks as the other semifinal series continues tonight. Miami holds a 3-1 lead in that set.
In the Western Conference semifinals last night, the Clippers outscored the Nuggets 113-107, to take a 2-1 series lead. Tonight, the Lakers play the Rockets. That semifinal series is tied 1-1.
NFL
The Detroit Lions yesterday confirmed their signing of running back Adrian Peterson. To make room on the roster, they put running back Bo Scarbrough on injured reserve.
The Lions begin their season at home with a 1:00 game Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
The Green Bay Packers have placed cornerback Kabion Ento and linebacker Kamal Martin on injured reserve. To help out, they’ve signed cornerback Parry Nickerson, who played a few games for the Jaguars last season.
