• Ontonagon shut down Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 3-0.
• Ewen-Trout Creek fell to Wakefield-Marenisco 3-0.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers pounded the Milwaukee Brewers 12-1 last night. Victor Reyes had four hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs. Christin Stewart and Grayson Greiner also homered. Michael Fulmer struck out six over three shutout innings. Daniel Norris earned the win in relief. Josh Lindblom gave up four runs over five innings, and took the loss for Milwaukee.
The Tigers have won six in a row.

The win was a costly one for Detroit. Center fielder JaCoby Jones suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch from Phil Bickford while batting in the eighth inning. He’ll miss the rest of the season. A few pitches later, Bickford hit outfielder Jorge Bonifacio on the hand as well. Bonifacio was able to stay in the game.

The Detroit Lions have signed offensive tackle Taylor Decker to a big contract extension. His agent says it’s a six-year deal worth potentially $85 million, with $37.5 million guaranteed. Yesterday, the Lions released receiver Geremy Davis, and claimed defensive tackle Albert Huggins off waivers from the Houston Texans.

Northern Michigan University has introduced the newest members of its Athletic Hall of Fame.
• Mark Beaufait was a member of the 1991 NCAA Championship hockey team, and also played on the 1994 U,S, Olympic team.
• Dawn Donaldson was an All-American volleyball player in the early ’90s.
• Mike Santorelli was a CCHA First Team All Star in 2007, and played professionally for nearly a decade.
• Matt Wonders started every game over a four-year stretch for the men’s basketball team in the early ’90s.
• Marissa Dellangelo LePage led the NMU women’s basketball team to four NCAA tournaments. She was the GLIAC Player of the Year in 2003.
• The 1981-82 Women’s Swim and Dive Team were runners-up at the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division II Championships, and produced four All-Americans.
There will be no induction ceremony for the new Hall of Fame members this year. They’ll be honored with the 2021 class at homecoming next fall.
Finlandia
The annual Finlandia Blue Line Club Golf Outing fundraiser will be held Sunday at the Calumet Golf Club. The three-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 11:00.
