Governor Whitmer Signs And Extends Executive Orders

Youth work permits just got a little easier to obtain.

This, after Governor Whitmer signed an executive order, relaxing paperwork requirements.

Work permits required by the Youth Employment Standards Act, which previously required special colored paper, can now be emailed, mailed or faxed, as opposed to in person.

Whitmer also extended the executive order, suspending in-person notarizations of documents, in favor of signing them electronically, via video conferencing.

Whitmer said “These executive orders will protect more people during this ongoing public health crisis by reducing unnecessary interactions, while providing a pathway for people to conduct business as usual.”

E-signatures are also allowed for documents, except in rare instances where statues require an in-person signature.

Both orders are in effect through August 31st.
