Portage Health Foundation Brings Capturing Kids Hearts To Area Schools

The Portage Health Foundation has teamed up with the Flippen Group, based out of College Station, TX to bring Capturing Kids Hearts, to all the schools in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Counties.

Bernadette Yoeman-Ouellette, who chairs the Portage Health Foundations Board of Directors, said she was thrilled to bring this extraordinary program to every school district, in the four county area.

The program, which focuses on building bridges between staff, students, parents and the community, was introduced to the CLK District two years ago, and has yielded outstanding results.

The program starts with a two day training session for all teachers, administrators and support staff at all the schools, and will have follow up training throughout the year to make sure the program is successful.

Superintendent/Principal of the Stanton Township Public School District, James Rautiola, said it’s important to us that the kids are comfortable with who they are as individuals and not afraid to tackle new challenges.
