Erik Kiilunen, a local business owner, who started the “All Business is Essential” movement, has been working hard, to make sure the Keweenaw has a Fireworks display for the 4th of July, after all the area events were cancelled, due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next Friday, starting at 6pm, you’re invited to Torch Lake, to celebrate America’s 244th birthday.
Kiilunen asked everyone leave the alcohol at home, and respect the community.
Kiilunen, a vocal critic of Governor Whitmer’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, reiterated that during the event, no masks will be passed out, and no other safety measures against COVID-19 will be taken.

Kiilunen is still working on a band and food vendor.
Plans for those should be finalized over the weekend, and donations will be accepted at the event.
