Three new cases of COVID-19 in Baraga County.
This from a press release from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department late last night.
Three employees of Bayside Village, which is a nursing home in the Village of L’Anse, were diagnosed, after baseline testing was performed on staff and residents, earlier this week, as part of new Department of Health and Human Services regulations.
Brandy DesMarais, operations manager for Bayside Village, stated all three employees were asymptomatic, with no travel out of the U.P. and are self isolating at home.
The investigations and contact tracing are underway as well.
Kate Beer from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, noted that Bayside Village, Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services and the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, are working together to prevent an outbreak within the facility.
More results from this round of testing are expected soon.
With the three new cases, The Western Upper Peninsula now has 22 confirmed cases.
The news, however, is not all bad. Houghton County has reported three recoveries in the last week.
