Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she’ll unveil a back-to-school plan for K-12 districts on June 30th.
“Michigan’s Return to School Roadmap” will include requirements and suggestions for the safe reopening of schools this fall, even as the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to continue.
The plan is being developed in conjunction with the Return to Learn Advisory Council, which includes education and health professionals.
Speaking in Lansing yesterday, Whitmer noted that Michigan and New York are the only two states in the nation experiencing downward infection curves. She cautioned against becoming complacent…
She also called out those who are trying to exploit the situation for partisan gain…
Whitmer also extended the order that requires all persons who can medically tolerate face coverings must wear them in grocery stores and pharmacies. She also signed an order that assures that persons who work in penal institutions will qualify for workers compensation if they are injured or disabled because of COVID-19 infection.
