NCAA Approves Opening College Training Facilities – Thursday Sports Wrap

Finlandia

The Finlandia University baseball team has landed a new recruit. Chase Sides is an outfielder from Millport, Alabama.

NBA

The NBA is focusing on Orlando, Florida, as a single-site venue at which it could conclude its season. Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex has multiple courts, including some that are wired for television broadcasting. The Orlando Magic’s arena and training facility are located nearby. There are plenty of hotel rooms to house players and staff, so no travel would be needed.

Major League Soccer is also considering concluding its season in Orlando.

NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association will allow university athletic training facilities to be opened to football and basketball players, beginning June 1st. Workouts would be voluntary. There’s no guarantee that all colleges will proceed immediately – that will be up to the individual schools and their conferences, and subject to state and local COVID-19 restrictions.
