Most Of The Western U.P. COVID-19 Patients Have Recovered

Five of the seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Western Upper Peninsula have fully recovered, according to a press release from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department.

Health Officer Kate Beer explained what recovered means.

The Western UP still has two patients currently recovering.

Beer also commented on increased testing for the Western UP.

Michigan’s National Guard and the State Emergency Operations Center are currently testing Western UP long term care facilities and county jails.

Results should be back next week.

To date, the Western Upper Peninsula has had 1,015 residents referred for testing.

28 tests have been cancelled.

Seven residents have tested positive, with one non-resident positive in Gogebic County.

874 residents have tested negative, while 105 are waiting for results.
