MLB
There’s no agreement yet as to when, or how, the Major League Baseball season will play out. Team owners presented their proposal for a shortened season to the players union Tuesday. No agreement was reached, and no statement was released. However, reports surfaced yesterday that players are unhappy with the salary provisions. The union agreed in March to accept prorated salaries, based on the number of games played. The owners want to limit total salaries to 50 percent of revenue. Union head Tony Clark has called that a “salary cap,” and said players will never accept it. Commissioner Rob Manfred has indicated that teams will lose about 40 percent of their net income if games are played without fans in the stands. There’s no word as to when – or, if – the next bargaining session will take place.
The owners’ proposal would open training camp next month, with a goal of beginning play in early July.

The Finlandia University baseball team has added another player. Jake Amshey is a pitcher from Marne, Michigan, near Grand Rapids.
