Michigan’s Unemployment Website Adds Tutorial To Help File Claims

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency website, recently added an online tutorial, to help people file their unemployment claims.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with non-essential businesses being forced to temporarily shut down, Michigan residents filing for unemployment benefits have gone over 1 million, or almost a quarter of Michigan’s workforce.

When this happened, the servers became overwhelmed and people had a hard time applying for unemployment benefits.

The agency has since hired more people to man phones and extended hours you can call in to apply and even added weekend hours.

Links to apply, along with the new online tutorial and the toll free number to call, are here and here. The toll free number to call to apply is 866-500-0017 8am-6pm Monday through Friday and 7am-2pm Saturday.
