The Christmas season opens in Hancock tonight, with the annual Christmas Walk. This year’s theme is “Christmas Joy in Hancock.” Carol Freeman from the Hancock Business and Professionals Association tells us that Santa will board a fire truck in front of the Scott Building at 6:00. Kids and their parents are invited to follow him through town to City Hall. Dogs are invited, too. Dress up your pet in a holiday costume, and enter it in the first-ever “Merry Mutts” parade. It’ll cost you a dollar per dog, and the money will support the Copper Country Humane Society.
When Santa arrives at City Hall, he’ll light the Christmas tree in the park across the street, and then spend time talking to kids. Bring a camera to take pictures. Kids can decorate cookies while they wait. Many downtown Hancock businesses will be offering specials during the evening.
